Welcome to our chapter!!
The MOMS Club® of Shawnee-West, Kansas is a member of an international network of support groups for mothers who have chosen to stay/work at home to raise their children. MOMS Club® believes that being a mother should not isolate you. Children are always welcome at all MOMS Club® activities. We include mothers and children of all ages, including mothers who work part-time or work at home. Our business meetings are the first Wednesday of the month. We'd love for YOU to join us!
The members of our chapter live in Shawnee and Lenexa, KS west of Renner Road. We began in 2001 as a part of The MOMS Club® of Shawnee and then branched out to our own chapter in 2006. As for 2010, we are currently over 40 members. Our club offers a supportive atmosphere for stay-at-home mothers and their children while encouraging fun, friendships, and participation in various meetings and activities year-round.
Service Project
The MOMS Club® has a long history of volunteering and serving those in need. They recognize the importance of volunteerism among communities and countries. For this reason, each local chapter must perform at least one service project benefitting children each year. Past projects completed by the MOMS Club® of Shawnee-West, Kansas have included:
- The Great American Bake Sale
- Operation Breakthrough
- Raising money for a foreign orphanage
- Providing a meal for the families at The Ronald McDonald House
Activities
Members often have special interests that they are eager to share with other members. The MOMS Club® encourages you to bring your ideas to the activity committee.
Some of our activities in the past have included field trips to local attractions, casual get-togethers at coffee shops or bookstores, and playdates at local playgrounds. We also have members who host activities in their homes, such as movies and craft projects. Our chapter also has a family picnic every year, along with holiday parties.
Another really great activity our chapter does every month is MOMS Night Out. This activity offers the opportunity to socialize without the little ones.
